Visitor Services Associate

POSITION SUMMARY

The Visitor Services Associate serves as a key representative of Holocaust Museum Houston and plays an essential role in creating a welcoming, informative, and respectful experience for all visitors. This position is responsible for front-of-house operations, guest engagement, admissions processing, and supporting daily Museum activities while upholding the Museum’s mission and values.

Visitor Services Associates work closely with Visitor Services staff, volunteers, and docents and are often the first point of contact for Museum guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide professional, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service to Museum visitors and guests
  • Sell admissions tickets, audio tours, memberships, and Museum Store merchandise
  • Accurately process transactions using point-of-sale and admissions systems
  • Assist visitors with questions, directions, accessibility needs, and general information
  • Operate and troubleshoot ticketing systems, audio guides, and other technology in exhibitions
  • Support group tours and special events as needed
  • Answer incoming phone calls and route inquiries appropriately
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming visitor services area
  • Monitor high-traffic areas of galleries

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • One to two years of experience in a museum, retail, hospitality, or customer service environment preferred
  • College coursework or equivalent experience a plus
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus
  • Availability to work daytime shifts, evenings, weekends, and select holidays
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test

  • Flexibility and reliability in a public-facing role

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires prolonged periods of sitting or standing, regular walking throughout Museum spaces, and occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds. The employee must be able to observe surroundings and respond to circumstances as needed. WORK SCHEDULE

Part-Time, 24 hours per week. Regularly scheduled Saturday or Sundays. Evening events with required attendance will be discussed beforehand.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role operates in a professional office and Museum environment with frequent interaction with staff, guests, and visitors. Noise and disruptions may occur during events, public hours, or high visitor periods.
