Security Shift Lead

Position Summary:

The Security Shift Lead supports supervision of all security-related activities on shift, ensuring the safety of Museum visitors, staff, and property. This role is to assist Director of Security to oversee security operations. Assists with training and coordination of contract officers, and acts as liaison between contract security team and Museum management, during assigned shifts.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

· Supervise security personnel on shift, by ensuring prompt arrival, adherence to operational procedures, and professional conduct.

· Communicate with the security team to ensure awareness of all scheduled events and activities.

· Coordinate with the Director of Safety and Security to assess weekend security needs and implement appropriate measures.

· Communicate with other weekend museum staff and assist them as needed.

· Lead security orientation for volunteers.

· Oversee and verify proper functioning of security equipment.

· Lead training for contract security officers on security equipment including cameras and x-ray machine.

· Ensure all incidents, malfunctions, and unusual activities are properly documented and communicated.

· Other security related responsibilities delegated by director of security.

Qualifications & Experience

· Level III and IV certified by DPS and current

· High school diploma or certified GED required.

· Minimum of two years’ experience in security or related field.

· Must meet all background and professional screening requirements as a condition of employment.

· Experience working with metal detector and X Ray system.

· Availability for day, evening, and weekend shifts as scheduled.

· Must have reliable means of transportation to report to work on time for assigned shifts.

· Must maintain a professional appearance in accordance with Museum standards and applicable policies.

Physical requirements

This position requires regular standing and walking throughout Museum spaces, including stairs, and occasional lifting or moving of objects up to 25 pounds. The role also requires the ability to monitor security equipment, observe surroundings, and respond quickly to potential situations. Work Environment: This position operates in both indoor and outdoor settings, including public galleries and event spaces. This role may involve exposure to varied weather conditions, moderate noise levels, and large crowds during special events. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and holidays assigned.
