Artist Karl P. Koenig uses his photographic eye and the remarkable effects of his gumoil photographic printing technique to explore the architectural remains of the Nazi concentration camps. His photographic style and expressive print-making method have allowed him to offer a unique interpretation of what these buildings may have been like for the condemned, however brief and/or painful their experiences were. Not incidentally, the pictures also suggest what a dehumanizing existence it would have been for many of the imprisoned.
