Sugihara: Japanese Righteous Gentile

Edith Hamer was just a child when her father and mother made the daring attempt to leave Lithuania before the Nazis invaded. Their escape would have been impossible without the aid of Chuine Sugihara, the Japanese consul general to Lithuania who issued exit visas to thousands of Jews endangered by the Nazis.

This exhibit includes rare documents on loan from the Japanese Diplomatic Record Office.

The exhibit is underwritten by Marathon Oil Company and Donna Fujimoto Cole with special thanks to Continental Airlines, the official airline of Holocaust Museum Houston.
