John Heartfield’s photomontages were a clever commentary on his era. During the 1930s, his works challenged Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party. This collection, owned by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, shows how the main modern art movements of the day (Expressionism, Cubism and Futurism) influenced Heartfield and were incorporated into his works.
