Join us for the opening reception of Unveiled: From the Vault. The exhibition explores the history of the Holocaust through a curated selection of artifacts from Holocaust Museum Houston’s permanent collection—many of which are being displayed for the first time. Others are returning to public view after many years, brought forward once again to tell their stories.
The wide range of artifacts featured includes personal belongings, photographs, letters, and official government documents. It highlights two strengths of HMH’s collection: its extensive holdings of ghetto and camp scrips, as well as German propaganda posters. All the items on view act not only as a historical record but also as a testament to individual lives lived before, during, and after the Holocaust.
Also on display are materials from Rice University’s Joan and Stanford Alexander South Texas Jewish Archives, which shed light on Houston’s Jewish community and its efforts to support both soldiers during the war and refugees in its aftermath.
