Black and Red: The Southern Red Scare

In correlation with the exhibition Blacklist: The Hollywood Red Scare, join us for a special presentation by historian and author Dr. John S. Huntington.

John S. Huntington is a professor of history at Houston Community College in Houston, Texas. A native of Georgetown, Texas, he worked in K-12 education before joining the college ranks. Dr. Huntington earned his Ph.D. from the University of Houston in 2016, and his first book, Far-Right Vanguard: The Radical Roots of Modern Conservatism, was recently published with the University of Pennsylvania Press. Dr. Huntington’s research has appeared in scholarly journals such as the Western Historical Quarterly and Radical Americas. He has also published in public-facing outlets like The Washington Post, Politico, and The Atlantic.

The event will be hosted virtually. Admission is free and open to the public, but advance registration is required to receive the private Zoom link.
