In early 1930’s Soviet Ukraine, the regime of Josef Stalin ran a genocidal campaign of starvation against the rural peasant class. With the intention to both collectivize Ukraine’s rich agricultural industry, as well as wipe out the Kulak class, food was withheld from millions of civilians in the countryside, leading to one of the worst, and unfortunately overlooked, genocides of the 20th Century. Join Holocaust Museum Houston in partnership with the Ukrainian American Cultural Club of Houston in the showing of the documentary “Black Raven,” memorializing the largely forgotten horror of the Holodomor.
