OUR CORE VALUES

Historical Memory: We are stewards of Holocaust memory. We collect, preserve and share the testimonies of survivors, liberators, and their descendants; honor the memories and stories of those who were murdered; and act with authority to defend the historical record against Holocaust denial, distortion and inversion.

Moral and Civic Responsibility: We believe individuals have an ethical obligation to speak out and act in the face of injustice. We encourage personal accountability and the recognition that silence and inaction contribute to the perpetuation of harm, and seek to recognize the actions of upstanders who chose humanity over hate.

Opposition to Antisemitism and Hatred: We actively confront antisemitism, including antizionism, and other forms of hatred and bigotry. The Museum is a platform for addressing the contemporary consequences of these ideologies through the lens of historical understanding.

The Transformative Power of Education: We believe in education as a key lever for change. Through rigorous, engaging, and historically accurate educational programs, we empower learners of all ages to empathize, think critically, and engage constructively in society.

Affirmation of Human Dignity: We affirm the inherent worth and agency of every person. Our work is rooted in the recognition of our shared humanity and the need to protect the shared rights and human dignity of all people.

Hope Grounded in Action: While the history we teach is tragic, our outlook is both hopeful and optimistic. We believe that remembrance can be a force for good, and that collective action, rooted in knowledge and empathy, can shape a better future.
