Visitor Services Associate (Part-Time, Seasonal)

Position Summary
Are you passionate about connecting with people and making a difference? Join Holocaust Museum Houston as a Visitor Services Associate, where you’ll play a key role in advancing our mission to educate about the dangers of hatred, prejudice, and apathy. As a front-line representative of the Museum, you will interact daily with visitors, ensuring an exceptional visitor experience while supporting the Museum’s operational needs. This role involves active team work with staff, volunteers, docents, and interns.

Work Schedule

  • Flexible schedule Tuesday through Sunday, based on Museum needs.
  • Required to work one Saturday or Sunday per week.
  • May include Monday holidays and evening shifts as needed.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a positive and professional demeanor while engaging with a diverse audience.
  • Accurately process transactions and maintain proficiency in admissions software when selling tickets, audio tours, memberships, and Museum Store merchandise.
  • Operate and troubleshoot online ticketing systems, audio tour guides, and assistive devices.
  • Support group tours as needed.
  • Answer phone calls courteously and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
  • Support daily operational tasks, including opening and closing procedures, maintaining the lobby area, and monitoring visitor flow.
  • Promote Museum membership, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Assist visitors with inquiries and concerns promptly and effectively.

  • Dependable, punctual, and adaptable to a dynamic workplace.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn quickly.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in a museum, retail, or customer service environment preferred.
  • College coursework is a plus.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are highly desirable.
  • Availability to work full days, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
