Manager, Donor Relations

Position Summary:

The Manager, Donor Relations, in partnership with Development leadership, is responsible for all aspects of the Museum’s donor stewardship and relations program. This includes reimagining the current stewardship framework, creating a comprehensive strategy, managing donor events, and engaging directly with donors and stakeholders. This position oversees the annual Gratitude Report, the Cornerstone Society Reception, and supports the planning of two annual Protectors of the Museum events. As a key representative of the Development Office, the Manager should embody and reflect the mission, vision, and values of Holocaust Museum Houston.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the CEO and CDO, design and implement a comprehensive stewardship strategy for all donors, supporters, volunteers, and partners.
  • Project manage the annual Gratitude Report, including timeline development and content compilation.
  • Produce a weekly stewardship report for the Development team.
  • Oversee the preparation and timely delivery of annual calendar-year giving summaries for all donors.
  • Provide personalized stewardship for Annual Fund donors giving between $1,000–$9,999, and collaborate with the Director of Development Operations to identify Major Gift prospects.
  • Partner with the Marketing Director to produce stewardship-related e-blasts and social media content.
  • Support the Director of Development Operations in optimizing fundraising reporting and ensuring timely and accurate data.
  • Track Board giving and generate quarterly reports for the CDO and CEO.
  • Send monthly pledge reminders and coordinate with staff to develop customized pledge fulfillment strategies.
  • Manage the Museum’s planned giving society (Legacy Society), including planning one annual event and stewarding new and existing members.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all donor recognition efforts, including for endowment and legacy donors; oversee design and installation of recognition signage.
  • Ensure fulfillment of donor recognition obligations across departments; serve as Development’s point of contact for recognition implementation.
  • Collaborate with gift officers and Marketing to ensure donors are appropriately thanked and receive tailored impact reports (individual, corporate, and foundation).
  • Develop thoughtful, strategic, and creative monthly stewardship touchpoints for gift officers to use in donor cultivation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in fundraising or donor relations.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to reflect the Museum’s voice and values.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities; capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Creative and strategic thinker with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, storytelling ability, and problem-solving skills.
  • CRM experience preferred; familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or Altru is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and database applications.
  • Experience in event planning and donor engagement strategies.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
