SUMMARY:Survivors and Descendants Family Program: The Number on Great-Grandpa's Arm
DESCRIPTION:Join the Houston Holocaust Survivors and Descendants\, together with Holocaust Museum Houston\, for an innovative program for children ages 9-12 with a parent(s) and/or grandparent(s). The program will include a screening of the HBO film The Number on Great-Grandpa’s Arm. Afterward\, the Museum’s education department will facilitate group discussions and activities for kids and provide tools for families to continue the conversation at home. The program is open to interested families\, whether or not your family includes Holocaust survivors. \nThe Number on Great-Grandpa’s Arm is an 18 minute film in which a ten year old boy talks to his 90 year old great-grandfather about his experiences during the Holocaust. It is designed to be an age-appropriate way to start a conversation about the Holocaust with children. \nThe program will be held at Holocaust Museum Houston on Sunday\, February 1 from 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. \nIf you have questions or concerns about the program\, please email education@hmh.org. \n			\n				RSVP

DESCRIPTION:Please join Freedman’s Town Museum in a Genealogy Workshop that highlights the importance of beginning or continuing family research using valuable archival records in Harris County. \nSession 1 | Documenting Your African American Family History: Debra Blacklock-Sloan\, a professional genealogist\, historical researcher and education outreach liaison for the Freedmen’s Town Museums Houston\, will discuss tips\, resources and records for locating African-American ancestors. \nSession 2 | Historical Records–Who We Are and What We Do: District Court records from 1837-1951:Court Indices\, court minutes\, court dockets\, court cases and naturalization records will be on display. Francisco Heredia\, Records Curator at the Harris County District Clerk’s Office\, will highlight valuable antebellum records for African-Americans’ experiences in Harris County. \nThis half-day of learning is brought to you through a partnership between the Freedmen’s Town Museums Houston\, Family History Research Center at the Clayton Library Campus\, Harris County District Clerk’s office and Clayton Library Friends. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited to 150 persons and advance registration is required. Entrance to the Museum begins at 10:30 a.m. There are fees associated with parking in the Holocaust Museum Houston lot and street parking. Attendees are invited to join the session from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. \nIn appreciation of attendees supporting this event\, the Freedmen’s Town Museums Houston\, will donate 1 free DNA kit and ten 2026 EJI calendars after the presentation. \n			\n				RSVP

Bubby’s Kitchen is a moving exploration of family\, identity\, and self-discovery\, set against the backdrop of the Holocaust and contemporary American life. Throughout the show\, Ginsburg transforms into seven different family members—each of whom helped shape her personal journey. At its heart\, Bubby’s Kitchen is the story of one young woman’s struggle to honor the remarkable legacy of her grandparents while forging a path of her own.
