Fairweather’s The Volunteer: One Man\, an Underground Army\, and the Secret Mission to Destroy Auschwitz tells the incredible true story of Witold Pilecki\, a Polish resistance fighter’s infiltration of Auschwitz to sabotage the camp from within\, and his death-defying attempt to warn the Allies about the Nazis’ plans. Lewyn’s On The Run In Nazi Berlin: A Memoir is the story of her own father-in-law\, Bert Lewyn.In Berlin\, 1942\, the Gestapo arrested 18-year-old Bert Lewyn and his parents\, sending Bert to work in a factory making guns and his parents to their deaths.
