Como resultado de choques \u00e9tnicos entre las poblaciones Hutu y Tutsi, el genocidio de 1994 dej\u00f3 cerca de 1 mill\u00f3n de muertos en aproximadamente 100 d\u00edas y ocasion\u00f3 la huida de 2 millones de personas desplazadas internamente y 2 millones de refugiados. <\/p>\n<p>El Proyecto Ruanda comenz\u00f3 en el 2000, concebido por el fot\u00f3grafo David Jiranek como un taller fotogr\u00e1fico de cuatro semanas, inspirado y centrado en la importancia de la perspectiva y experiencia de los ni\u00f1os. Se les dio a ni\u00f1os de edades entre ocho y 18 a\u00f1os, c\u00e1maras desechables para fotografiarse a ellos mismos y a sus comunidades. La exposici\u00f3n es resultado de talleres fotogr\u00e1ficos continuos para ni\u00f1os que vivieron en el Orfanato de Imbabazi en Gisenyi, Ruanda. <\/p>\n<p>El Orfanato de Imbabazi, en la frontera de Ruanda con la Rep\u00fablica Democr\u00e1tica del Congo, fue alguna vez el punto de cruce principal para tanto el \u00e9xodo y reentrada de ruandeses durante y despu\u00e9s del genocidio.
