art\u00edstica de Kalischer abarca la imagen que contribuy\u00f3 a la exposici\u00f3n \u00abLa familia del hombre\u00bb (The Family of Man) en el Museo de Arte Moderno en 1955, los trabajos aut\u00f3nomos que emprendi\u00f3 para revistas famosas como Time, Life y Fortune, y los 35 a\u00f1os que trabaj\u00f3 por encargo para el New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>En esta exhibici\u00f3n se destacan fotograf\u00edas tomadas en 1947 y 1948 al momento que llegaban a Nueva York personas desplazadas. \u00abPersonas desplazadas\u00bb, una de las primeras series de Kalischer y una de sus m\u00e1s personales e \u00edntimas, narra discretamente la llegada de los refugiados del Holocausto a los Estados Unidos a finales de los a\u00f1os 1940, escena en la que fue tanto espectador como participante.<\/p>\n<p>Esta exposici\u00f3n tiene como base la colecci\u00f3n de Kalischer, propiedad del representante legal del museo Marc Grossberg y la colecci\u00f3n del artista mismo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abYo acostumbraba ir al puerto cuando llegaba un barco&#8230; Hab\u00eda llegado de la misma manera seis a\u00f1os atr\u00e1s. Ve\u00eda el miedo y la expectativa en los rostros de hombres, mujeres y ni\u00f1os&#8230; porque yo hab\u00eda sentido lo mismo\u201d, dijo Kalischer respecto a su obra. \u201cCreo que la empat\u00eda era lo que me permit\u00eda caminar entre la gente y fotografiarlos sin molestarlos\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Kalischer vive actualmente en Stockbridge, MA. Naci\u00f3 en Lindau, Alemania, en 1921. En 1933, sali\u00f3 con sus padres de Alemania con destino a Par\u00eds. Despu\u00e9s de escapar de Francia, vino a los Estados Unidos en 1942. Estudi\u00f3 en la Cooper Union y en la New School en Nueva York.<\/p>\n<p>Su obra se exhibe en colecciones permanentes de la Biblioteca del Congreso, el Museo de Brooklyn, el Museo Metropolitano de Arte, el Museo Internacional de Fotograf\u00eda, el Museo de Arte Moderno y el Museo de la Di\u00e1spora en Tel Aviv, Israel.<\/p>\n<p>La exposici\u00f3n est\u00e1 asegurada por la generosidad de Frost, H-E-B, la Morgan Family Foundation, Carol Desenberg, Beth Wolff Realtors, Ilene Allen, H. La entrada es gratuita, pero se requiere de una inscripci\u00f3n previa para esta recepci\u00f3n.
