Visitor Services Associate (Part-Time)

GENERAL INFORMATION

If you enjoy interacting with the public and helping individuals and would like to work for a Museum whose mission is to teach the dangers of hatred, prejudice, and apathy, the Visitor Services Associate position could be your perfect fit. Associates are on the frontlines of the HMH visitor experience, interacting with visitors and guests daily, assisting with daily operations, and working closely with Visitor Services staff, volunteers, docents, and interns.

WORK SCHEDULE

Fridays, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., with a variable schedule Monday through Thursday, depending on need. Schedule may include holidays and evenings, as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain an enthusiastic and responsive attitude toward the visitor experience, delivering exceptional customer service and engaging with guests in an informed and professional manner.
  • Sell admissions tickets, audio tours, memberships, and Museum Store merchandise.
  • Assist guests with information, questions, and issues effectively.
  • Accurately process transactions and maintain working knowledge of admissions software.
  • Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot online ticketing, audio tour guides, and assistive devices.
  • Assist with group tours, as needed.
  • Answer phones courteously and direct inquiries appropriately.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 16 years of age to apply.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a museum, retail, or customer service setting. Some college a plus.
  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)
  • Able to work full days, as well as some evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Moderate physical activity. Must be able to lift a maximum of 25 pounds.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Superb customer service skills, with the ability to maintain a courteous and helpful attitude with diverse communities.
  • Experience with point of sale (POS) software, solid computer skills, and digital proficiency.
  • Ability to learn quickly and problem solve efficiently.
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team.

Hourly Pay Scale: $13-15 per hour, depending on experience and skills.
