Foundational Principles

HOLOCAUST MUSEUM HOUSTON FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES*

  1. To remember and teach the universal lessons of the Holocaust.
  2. To remember and honor our survivors and the memory of the six million Jews and others who were murdered in the Holocaust.
  3. To remember and honor those upstanders who risked their own lives to protect people targeted by the Holocaust.
  4. To use the lessons of the Holocaust and other incidents of antisemitism to counter current and future antisemitism and anti-Zionism.
  5. To recognize the accomplishments of the Jewish people both before and after the Holocaust in the diaspora and in Israel.

*These Foundational Principles were reaffirmed by all 16 living past chairs of the Holocaust Museum Houston on October 10, 2024, and adopted by the board of trustees at its October 31, 2024, meeting.
