"Taking Flight: The Butterfly Project" Opening Reception

In 1996, Holocaust Museum Houston began “The Butterfly Project,” an program to teach young people about the experiences of the 1.5 million children who lost their lives during the Holocaust. From 1995 onward, the Museum collected 1.5 million handmade butterflies from all over the world. These beautiful butterflies comprise the exhibit “Taking Flight,” curated by Syd Moen and chaired by Tali Blumrosen. On Feb. 11, 180 Museum members gathered to celebrate the opening of the exhibit, which runs through July 31, 2016.
