Associate Director of Development
The Associate Director of Development is a full-time, exempt staff position primarily responsible for cultivating and managing major gifts. Responsibilities also include managing ongoing special event fundraising, planned giving and all related aspects of a nonprofit development department.
Reports to:
This position reports to the Director of Development and works with the Board of Directors, volunteer leaders and other staff as required.
Responsibilities include:
- Researching, cultivating and managing a file of major donors and prospects to expand the Museum’s donor base and raise the necessary funding for operations and programs;
- In conjunction with Museum executive staff, managing the involvement of event chairmen, finance committee members and other special and annual event leaders;
- Assisting the director in the day-to-day operation of the development department;
- Attending occasional evening and/or weekend events; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Required skills:
- Ability to ask for and close major gifts.
- Ability to prioritize and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Experience with grants research and writing preferred.
- Program planning experience preferred.
- Budget planning and supervisory experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work and interact with others in cooperative manner.
- Self-motivation.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Excellent written and oral communications.
- Organizational and computer skills.
Required education and experience:
- Minimum of 5 years fundraising experience.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Knowledge and previous use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Raiser’s Edge software.
