HOUSTON, TX (Aug. 31, 2005) – As a gesture of
compassion and assistance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina,
Holocaust Museum Houston will donate all proceeds from admission to the
Museum through the Labor Day weekend to the American Red Cross on their
behalf.
"Our heart goes out to our neighbors to the east, and we are happy
to donate all entry proceeds through this busy weekend for use in
helping them get back on their feet," said Peter Berkowitz, chairman of
the Museum’s Board of Directors.
The Museum does not charge admission, but many patrons contribute a suggested donation of $5 per person on entry.
The Museum is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; this
Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., and Labor Day from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m.
Holocaust Museum Houston promotes awareness and educates the public
of the dangers of prejudice, hatred and violence against the backdrop
of the Holocaust by fostering remembrance, understanding and education.
