|April Is Genocide Awareness Month
|"Never Again!" was a promise made after the Holocaust, and yet it has been more like "Again and Again." Without awareness of genocide – and actions to stop and prevent it – the 21st century may well continue like the past century. Holocaust Museum Houston challenges you to take the month of April to learn more about genocide and work to Stop Genocide. Starting Here.
The First Two Weeks (April 1–14):
Learn more about genocide by using resources at Holocaust Museum Houston.
- Remember the events of the Holocaust by watching an online testimonial of a survivor.
- Learn about the history of modern genocides using the “Resources” tab on the Museum’s Web site.
- Select one or two books to read via the online catalog at the Boniuk Research Center and Library.
The Second Two Weeks (April 15–April 30):
Tell others your views about genocide and what actions you think the United States and corporations can take to end genocide today. Take time to write to corporate chief executives, state legislators, U.S. congressmen, the U.S. secretary of state and/or the president. In 2010, Holocaust Museum Houston honored John Prendergast, cofounder of the Enough Project, with the Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award for his work against genocide. These resources from the Enough Project can provide talking points for your letters.
