Subject : "Up Close and Personal," with Carolyn Dorfman
Detail : In intimate conversation, artistic director and choreographer Carolyn Dorman, a child of survivors of the Holocaust, reveals her inspiration for the Legacy Project, a celebrated body of work that honors Dorfman’s Eastern European roots and Jewish heritage. With depth, humor and reverence, she draws on the rich Jewish legacy, its history, philosophy, traditions, gestures, music and liturgy to create work that is honestly personal yet powerfully universal. Through live dance performance, multimedia presentation and interactive dialogue, Dorfman dips a ladle into a historical caldron and takes us on a journey of faith, survival and renewal. She is acclaimed not only for artistry, craft and vision but also her leadership. Since founding the Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company in 1982, she has created more than 50 works and achieved a highly respected position among artists and arts institutions throughout the United States. Tickets are $5 for HMH members and $8 for nonmembers, and seating is limited. To RSVP online, visit www.hmh.org/RegisterEvent.aspx. Students and seniors may pay $5 at the door.
